Most grab lorries in London are 8-wheelers, built for building sites with room to swing. They'll turn down a terraced street, a narrow lane or a gated estate without getting out of the cab. Ours won't.
Tight access
A crane-equipped tipper. It lifts over walls and fences and loads from the road.
Half loads
The big operators want a full 12 tonnes to make the trip worth it. We don't.
No permit
Nothing stays on the road, so there's no council licence to arrange.
What it's for
We don't chase 15 tonnes of spoil off an open building site — there are 8-wheelers for that. We're for the awkward ones: terraced streets, back gardens, gated estates, controlled parking, and loads too small for anyone else to bother with.
Soil, turf, overgrowth, old sheds, decking, fence panels and patio slabs. The crane lifts it over the fence, so nothing comes through your house.
Broken concrete, hardcore, bricks, timber and strip-out debris from extensions and refits.
Spoil from footings, extensions and garden levelling, where a full-size grab can't get near the pile.
Dumped piles on estates, in bin stores and yards. Cleared in one visit, with before and after photos for the managing agent.
Where there's more than a van's worth but less than a full skip lorry's.
We can't take asbestos, chemicals, fuels, oils, gas cylinders or clinical waste. Ask us and we'll tell you who can.
Before you book a skip
| A skip | Our grab | |
|---|---|---|
| Council permit | Needed on any public road, plus a pavement licence in much of central London | None — nothing stays on the road |
| Time on site | Days, sometimes a week | Usually under an hour |
| Who loads it | You do | We do |
| Access | Needs a clear spot big enough to drop and collect | Loads from the road, reaches over walls and fences |
| What you pay for | The full skip, filled or not | The space you actually use |
| Overnight fly-tipping into it | Your problem | Doesn't happen |
Prices
Two loads that look identical can cost very different amounts to tip. Rubble is heavy and cheap; mixed household waste is light and dear. So we price from a photo rather than publishing a number that would be wrong for half the jobs.
How it works
WhatsApp a picture of the pile and your postcode to 07765 823249. If access is tight, send a shot of the street too.
Usually back within the hour during working hours.
We'll tell you where the lorry needs to stand before the day.
Your waste transfer note comes by email — that's your proof the waste was handled legally.
Where we work
Tight access is what we're for. If you're not sure we'll fit, send a photo of the street and we'll tell you straight.
Questions
No. Permits apply to skips left on a public road. A grab loads and drives away, so there's nothing to license. If the lorry has to stand on a red route or in a controlled bay we'll tell you before booking.
That's the reason we run this lorry rather than an 8-wheeler. Send a photo of the access and we'll give you a straight answer — including if the answer is no.
Yes. Big grab firms want a full load before they'll make the trip. We don't.
It goes to a licensed transfer station, gets sorted, and as much as possible is recycled rather than landfilled. You get a waste transfer note.
Elite Rubbish Clearance Ltd is registered in England & Wales (no. 17393869) and fully insured. Our upper-tier waste carrier registration is in progress; once it's issued the number will be published here and checkable on the Environment Agency's public register.
